Who is she?
A friend recently told me, “When I look at your social media, I have no clue who you are or what you do!”
I laughed because, well, they know me, and they know everything I do, but apparently, I’m not out here telling
my story like I should.
How many of you grew up hearing, "Don't put your/our business in the streets"? I know I did. While there’s
some truth to that advice, it can also hold us back, especially when we step into entrepreneurship or climb
the corporate ladder. We get stuck in that mindset, hesitant to share who we are and what we do. But here’s
the thing: in business, the streets need to know your story! How will anyone buy your products, use your
services, or hire you if they have no idea what you’re all about? And that is what prompted me to write this!
So, a little about me—I was born and raised in a small town called Ocala, Florida. My childhood was
absolutely amazing! Running barefoot, climbing trees, swinging on vines, swimming in waterholes, fighting
boys, and perfecting backward somersaults off the roof. Yes, you read that right—off the roof. I’m basically
a dressed-up country girl who swapped her cowboy boots for business heels and fedoras.
As kids, we all played “Mama and Daddy,” right? Well, as the oldest of three, I was always “Mama.” But my
real jam was playing school. And, of course, I was always the teacher (who else?). From the 5th grade, I
knew I wanted to be an educator, so off I went to college, majored in secondary education, and found myself
loving high school kids but my heart ached at people playing evil politics with their education. After a year
of teaching, I was ready to throw in the towel. Ever wanted something so badly, only to get it and think,
“Wait, this isn’t it”? That was me. So, I pivoted into HR.
Fast forward 20 years—don’t worry, the B-side of my life story will be released later, and trust me, it’s a
Lifetime movie waiting to happen. After working for two of the biggest Fortune 500 companies, It allotted me
to still educate people but I also found my passion in connecting with people. One of my favorite quotes is,
“One cannot think higher than the level they’ve been exposed to,” and getting people exposed to new people,
places, and opportunities is a natural high for me. And a Bible verse that also fuels me in what I do is: “We
perish for lack of knowledge.” Another translation says “We perish because we fail to attend to what God has
revealed.” That white space is where I try to help people become good stewards of their purpose.
So, where does that leave me now? I received my Life Coaching certification and became part of the
International Coaching Federation, specializing in helping people attend to their goals with my Goal Mate
Planner.
2019, I launched Sisterhood University—a safe space for women to be heard, inspired, and empowered through education. Learn More
people, places and opportunties.
And my proudest title? Mom. I have two amazing sons, Austin and Dallas—one’s playing professional
baseball, and the other’s a student-athlete at Virginia Tech. They’re talented, smart, kind, respectful and yes,
incredibly handsome (not that I’m biased or anything).
So there it is—kindness and connection are at the core of everything I do. I’ve learned that being nice is easy,
but being kind is an intentional choice, and it’s Kingdom work I’m honored to be an ambassador for.
